Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common questions about how Manly.Health works, your care through our clinical partner Altro Health, prescriptions, labs, orders, and more.
Getting started & your care
Is every order reviewed by a clinician?
Yes. Every order is evaluated by a licensed clinician through our partner, Altro. This is usually done asynchronously based on your medical intake, so most orders are approved without a call. A few states and medications require a short call, and testosterone (TRT) always does. Any required call is included at no extra cost.
Do I need to talk to a clinician before getting prescribed?
Some medications require a brief clinician consultation before approval, at no extra cost to you. TRT always requires a video visit and recent laboratory testing before it can be prescribed; additional requirements may vary by state and applicable law. These consultations are handled by our clinical partner, Altro Health.
When are telehealth appointments required?
For certain products and in certain states, a brief telehealth visit with your prescribing clinician is required before your order can be approved. This most often applies to men's hormone therapy (testosterone, hCG, and enclomiphene) and to states with specific telehealth rules. Your clinician can't review or approve your request until that visit happens. When a visit is required it's included at no extra charge, you'll be prompted to schedule it, and the product page always shows the current requirement.
How does my care team communicate with me?
For your privacy, all communication with your clinical team happens through the Altro portal's Messages feature. You'll get an email notification whenever you receive a message, or you can check the portal directly.
What is the medical intake, and do I fill it out every time I order?
When you create your account, you provide the basics: name, email, phone, address, and age. The health questionnaires come later, once you request a prescription, since your clinician needs a clear picture of your health first. You'll complete a questionnaire specific to the medication you're requesting, plus general questionnaires that give your clinician an ongoing baseline. These are required, and an incomplete questionnaire can cause your order to be cancelled. You won't repeat the full baseline for every order; ordering a different medication later only requires the questions specific to that new medication. Once treatment is underway, you'll also get periodic check-in questionnaires.
Prescriptions & approvals
Can I transfer my current prescription?
Yes. During intake, let us know you're already on the medication and upload a photo of your current prescription showing your name, dose, and prescriber. Altro's clinical team reviews it and may continue you at your current dose instead of restarting from the lowest dose. Without documentation from a licensed prescriber, they may need to start you at the lowest dose for safety, or decline if it isn't appropriate for you.
What happens if I'm not approved for a prescription?
If Altro's clinical team determines a medication isn't right for you, you're refunded in full and the clinician explains why directly through your portal, with alternatives if any exist. This is a real medical review, not a rubber stamp.
Can I ask for my dose to be adjusted?
Yes. Message your clinical team anytime through your portal, or raise it at your check-in. Your clinician reviews and decides based on your progress and safety, so a change isn't automatic, but you can always ask.
Do you offer microdosing GLP-1 options?
When ordering a GLP-1 (like semaglutide or tirzepatide), you may see more than one dosing option. Either way, your choice is a starting point; your clinician reviews every request and decides what's appropriate before anything is prescribed.
Orders, shipping & refills
How long until I receive my order?
About a week from completed intake: roughly 1 business day for clinical review, 2 to 3 days for pharmacy processing, and 2-day shipping. The clock starts when your intake form is finished, not when you place the order.
How do I check my order status?
Orders move through four stages: medical intake, clinician review, pharmacy fulfillment, and shipping. To check your status, log into your portal, click Orders, and select the order. If an order seems delayed, common causes include an unfinished intake, your clinician following up with questions, labs still needed (required for TRT), or a prescription photo that's missing information.
How do refills work?
Refill timing varies by medication and program. Many recurring therapies renew every four weeks, while others follow the schedule shown in your patient portal. You can delay or cancel anytime through your account.
Can I pause or delay my next order?
Yes, through your portal. Two things to know: pausing can affect progress for some medications, so check with your clinician first; and follow the pharmacy label and storage or beyond-use instructions for your specific medication when planning any delay. Requests need to come in at least a week before your next ship date; after that the order is already in process and can't be canceled or refunded.
What if I experience side effects?
If your symptoms feel life-threatening or urgent, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room right away, don't wait on a portal message. For anything non-urgent, message your care team directly through the portal's Messages feature.
Medications & quality
Where do my medications come from? Are they made in the US?
Manly.Health works with Altro Health, which partners with licensed 503A compounding pharmacies and FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities across the US. Altro states that compounding is performed domestically and that active ingredients come from FDA-registered facilities. Vial labels show the pharmacy information for transparency.
What quality testing do the products go through?
Depending on the product: sterility testing, bacterial endotoxin testing, potency testing, ingredient verification, and stability testing. Testing is done by the pharmacy and often an independent third-party lab. Altro states that Certificates of Analysis are available on request.
How is a compounded medication different from the brand-name version?
Compounded medications are prepared when clinically appropriate and legally permitted, and may differ from commercially available products in formulation, strength, or ingredients. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. Your Altro clinician determines the right formulation as part of your evaluation.
Why is hormone therapy restricted in certain states?
Men's hormone therapy, including testosterone, hCG, and enclomiphene, isn't currently available through Manly.Health in Alabama, West Virginia, or Louisiana. These states have stricter requirements for prescribing, such as mandatory in-person visits, that fall outside how our platform operates, so we're not able to offer it there for now.
Labs & testing
Do I need labs before starting?
Generally no, with one exception: TRT requires labs before starting. For GLP-1 therapy, labs aren't required to start but must be completed within 90 days to continue treatment. For other products, labs are encouraged but not required. You can complete labs through the platform or submit outside results as long as they cover the required markers.
What labs do you offer?
Altro offers a range of pre-built comprehensive blood panels curated by medical advisors, including comprehensive panels, product-specific panels (GLP-1, TRT, Sermorelin), core panels (hormonal, heart and inflammation, metabolic, nutrient), and advanced panels. Labs are processed through CLIA-certified lab centers in the US.
How do I get my labs done, and when do I get results?
Once you order, you'll schedule an appointment at a lab location near you for your blood draw. Results are typically ready within about a week and upload automatically to your portal.
Can I get help understanding my lab results?
You receive your full lab report to keep. If you'd like a clinician's interpretation, you can request one through Altro's clinical team via your portal.
Are lab providers different depending on my state?
Yes. In some states, lab orders are processed through a different lab network due to state regulations on lab testing.
Do you offer genome testing, CGMs, or supplements?
We don't currently offer genome testing, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), or supplements. You're welcome to purchase a CGM on your own if you'd like to track glucose alongside your treatment; some CGMs are available over the counter, while others may require a prescription.
